Overview

This week, we focused on looking into possible dependency of CL on EL for getBlobs.

We wanted to identify how the blob throughput changes when we disable getBlobs in EL side and observe how well CL’s propagation works.

• Pectra without getBlobs: 50 blobs/block
• lighthouse/geth with getBlobs: 43 blobs/block
• lighthouse/geth without getBlobs: 35 blobs/block
• lighthouse/nethermind with getBlobs: 45 blobs/block

From above tests:

• without getBlobs, lighthouse alone handled 35 blobs/block.
• network did perform better with good getBlobs hit rate.

With 50 lighthouse-geth nodes, we manually modified the getBlobs function to always return nil.
